LIVE for Gold Members!

Alright party, gather round the terminal. RPGX Bypass just dropped into Early Access, and it's ready to hit your table for tonight's session.
If you've ever wanted your players to feel the actual tension of picking a lock, hacking a terminal, or watching a bomb timer tick down instead of just rolling a d20 and hearing "you succeed"... this module is built for exactly that moment.
What is RPGX Bypass?
RPGX Bypass is a system-agnostic Foundry VTT module that brings physical, hands-on puzzle mini-games straight into your virtual tabletop. Think Operation. Think Concentration. Think every tense "cut the red wire" scene from your favorite heist movie, now playable live at your table.
No more abstracting away the good stuff behind a single skill check. Now your players get to do the thing. The best part is that each challenge takes character skill into account. Each test is set up to get easier or harder for the player, depending on how well their character's skill rolls turn out.

The Seven Puzzle Types
Every puzzle is built to be dropped onto any token, prop, or NPC in seconds:
🔐 Lockpick – A tactile pin-tumbler challenge for every locked door and chest. Also a radial lock challenge that plays tumbler noises when you turn the lock. The correct number has a slightly different tone for an emersive safe cracking exoerience.

🔑 Password – Classic code-breaking tension for datapads, safes, and secret terminals.
🔢 Keypad – Quick-hit numeric challenges for vaults, control panels, and security doors.

💻 Terminal Hacking – The crown jewel. A full boot sequence with a fading X8 Industries logo, network handshake prompts, and a live hacking grid pulled from a 120-word themed pool. It even unlocks in-world themed journal entries directly inside the terminal screen when your players crack it. (This challenge works directly with a futre module in development that will expose network locations for the players that hacked them allowing them access to a growing number fo computer systems).

🧨 Trap Disarm – Pull back a physical cover, flip on an x-ray flashlight to see the wiring, then drag components through a maze of danger zones. One wrong move and the whole screen shakes.

💣 Bomb Defuse – The big one. A triple-combo terminal system with a chain log tracking every correct and incorrect move, a hidden instant-win combo for the sharpest players, and a frozen countdown that only starts ticking once someone messes up. GM-tunable difficulty from Easy to Hard.

🔍 Observations – A newer addition built for investigation scenes. Present flavor text and an image, adjudicate the roll, and reveal a full dossier card when players succeed. One flexible notes field means it works on literally anything, a monster, a corpse, a mysterious device.
Built for Immersion, Not Just Mechanics
Here's the part that actually matters: every single one of these puzzles can be attached to any token in your scene. A random goblin. A treasure chest. A door. A companion module's loot drop. It doesn't matter if the token has player ownership or not, Bypass handles the permissions under the hood so your GM never has to fuss with sharing settings mid-session.
That means:
A chest can look like ordinary loot until it's actually locked and trapped.
An NPC can hide a hackable terminal in their gear.
A seemingly empty room can conceal an invisible interactive trap tile that only reveals itself when your players go looking.
The invisible token feature is what really sells this. Instead of your players metagaming "oh, that shiny icon on the map must be interactive," they have to actually search, interact, and discover. The puzzle is the game moment, not a UI hint that spoils it.
Why This Changes Your Table
Skill checks are great. But there's a difference between telling your players "you rolled a 17, you pick the lock" and watching them actually manipulate pins under time pressure while the rest of the party holds their breath behind them.
RPGX Bypass turns those abstracted moments into shared physical tension. It's the same reason board games like Operation and Concentration have stuck around for decades, hands-on stakes hit different than a dice roll ever will.
And because it's fully GM-controlled, you're never at the mercy of the mechanics. Every puzzle has GM override controls to solve instantly or trigger a failure whenever the story needs it. The puzzle serves the narrative, not the other way around.
What's Next
This is Early Access, which means you're getting the ground floor. Loot-drop token compatibility is currently being verified, meaning soon you'll be able to slap a lock or trap on a chest with real loot inside it, tying the whole toolbelt together into one seamless experience.
Thank you to all my Gold Members for supporting the kind of weird, ambitious tools that make our tables better. Drop this into your game tonight and let me know how your players react to the first terminal hack or the first bomb defuse. I want to hear about it.
Now go make your players sweat. 😈
