The first full release of RPGX Shops & Traders is here. Build out shops and businesses for your world, hand them off to your players, and let them browse, buy, sell, and haggle without you lifting a finger mid-session.
Build Your Shops
- Create a business as its own Actor: name, business type, location, a player-facing description, and GM-only notes.
- New businesses are organized automatically into a "Businesses" folder, sorted into subfolders by Location.
- Assign one or more NPCs as shopkeepers. With more than one assigned, a shopkeeper is picked at random for each visit, and you can reroll any time.
- Build named, reusable Default Inventory lists (a General Store stock list, a Blacksmith stock list, and so on), then apply one as a starting point whenever you create a new business.
A Real Shop Window
- Players open a shop from a floating button or by clicking the business's token on the canvas.
- **Inventory**: browse what's for sale, see live prices and stock, and add to cart.
- **Services**: pay for flat-rate services a business offers, room and board, repairs, training, whatever fits.
- **Sell Loot**: drag items straight from a character sheet to sell them back to the shop.
- **Shopping as**: players controlling more than one character choose which one is shopping.
- **Haggle**: a one-click request sends a whisper to the GM to call for a check and apply a price break.
- Funds, totals, and prices are calculated and converted automatically, no manual math at the table.
Full GM Controls
- Edit any item's stock count inline, right from the shop window.
- Mark individual items as unlimited stock.
- **Restock All** resets every item back to its starting quantity in one click.
- Set a flat haggle modifier across the whole shop.
- Remove items from a shop entirely, permanently if you want them gone for good.
AI-Assisted Shop Generation
- With RPGX Proton running, **Generate with AI** writes a shop's name, business type, description, and GM notes in one pass.
- Generation is aware of your world's Game System and Campaign Genre settings, so results fit the table you're actually running.
- Checks against your existing shop names so you won't end up with two "Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppes."
- Runs entirely on your own machine through RPGX Proton. Nothing about your world ever leaves your computer.
Built for Every Table
- Works whether your Foundry is hosted on Forge, on a dedicated local server, or run straight from the GM's own PC.
- Players only ever have read access to a shop's inventory. Every purchase, sale, and haggle request is relayed through an online GM's client, no special permissions to manage.
Free and Pro
- **Free**: up to 3 businesses, full shop window functionality for all of them.
- **Pro**: unlimited businesses, plus AI-assisted generation, unlocked with an active RPGX Proton subscription.

On the Horizon
A few things already on the roadmap for future updates:
- **Configurable currency**: an editor for setting up custom currency denominations, for tables running systems other than dnd5e or pf2e.
- **RAG-powered shop generation**: AI generation that can pull in context about a shop's location and shopkeeper from your world's own notes and journals, for results that feel like they belong in your setting specifically, not just your genre.
- **Automated in-shop dialogue**: shopkeepers that can respond to players with AI-generated, in-character dialogue during a visit, not just static flavor text.
