RPGX Studios Dev Update — 6/2/26

Quest Log is officially in the Foundry VTT module manager.

After going through the re-review process, RPGX Quest Log has been approved and is now listed in the official Foundry VTT package registry. You can install it directly from inside Foundry without touching GitHub or a manifest URL. Just open the module manager, search RPGX, and it shows up. That's a big deal for accessibility and I'm really happy to finally have it there alongside AI Assistant, which has been in the registry for a while now.

If you haven't tried Quest Log yet, it gives you a full quest and campaign management system inside Foundry. Job board, active tracking, milestones, rewards with automatic split distribution, GM notes hidden from players, and AI-assisted quest generation when paired with Proton. Free tier gets you 10 quest slots. Proton subscribers get unlimited everything.

The website got a full overhaul.

rpgxstudios.com now has dedicated product pages for the entire RPGX Toolbelt. AI Assistant, Quest Log, and Proton each have their own full feature breakdown pages, and there's a new Toolbelt hub page that shows the whole suite at a glance with pricing, feature comparisons, and download links. Everything is consistent, clean, and a lot easier to navigate than what was there before. RPGX Loot Crate has a Coming Soon card on the hub page as well.

Development continues on RPGX Loot Crate.

Loot Crate is the next module in the Toolbelt family. It's in active development and will follow the same free/pro structure as Quest Log. More details coming as it gets closer to release. Proton and AI Assistant feedback has been really positive.

It's been great hearing from people who are actually using these tools at their tables. The most common thing I hear is that having a local AI that knows your world and doesn't phone home to a server is exactly what people were looking for. That means a lot given how much thought went into keeping everything on your machine.

RPGX AI Bridge is live in AI Assistant.

This one is a big quality of life addition for groups running Proton on a dedicated machine rather than the GM's personal computer. The Bridge creates a special service account inside Foundry that relays all AI traffic from every connected client through whichever machine is running Proton. The GM doesn't need Proton running locally during the session. If the Bridge isn't logged in, everything falls back to normal GM behavior automatically. Nothing breaks, it just works.

Coming up: OCR and PDF ingestion improvements.

Right now PDF ingestion works well for text-based documents. The next planned improvement is OCR support, which would allow scanned PDFs and image-heavy documents to be processed and ingested into your knowledge base. Rulebooks, older scanned adventure modules, handwritten notes turned into PDFs — the goal is to make the knowledge base as flexible as possible about what it can learn from.

AI tuning is getting more attention.

There are plans in the works for better AI behavior tuning across the board. Temperature and token limits are already adjustable, but the next step is going deeper — more control over how the AI handles lore versus improvisation, how it prioritizes RAG context versus its own knowledge, and how it handles edge cases when it doesn't have enough information to give a confident answer. The goal is responses that feel more intentional and less generic.

Power user settings are coming to Proton.

For the people who want to go deeper, a dedicated power user settings menu is planned for Proton. This will expose finer controls over the AI and its background jobs — things that aren't necessary for casual use but matter a lot to users who want to optimize performance for their specific hardware and workflow. More details on exactly what gets exposed as development progresses.
